Community blanket – a gift wrap

The Burgh “Community blanket” – all 121 squares of it – is ready to make someone very happy this Christmas. Along with three hats, two scarves, and one baby blanket, the blanket was stitched together by 14 villagers since early November.
One of the organisers, Helen Watson, said: “This is truly impressive for a small group. The blanket really looks lovely.”
The knitting is part of the Knit for Peace project which has about 22,000 knitters. It distributes to more than 200 outlets, including hospitals, women’s refuges, refugee drop in centres, prisons, community groups, and hospices as well as to developing countries and refugee camps, or those living in the rubble in Syria.
So the Burgh blanket may go abroad, or maybe to a shelter centre or food bank in this country.
