Fête a huge success

Villagers raised £3,075 at the summer fête despite initial fears it would not be held due to lack of volunteers.
But new residents in the village came to the rescue and helped boost funds to more than last year.
Jeremy Hickling, chairman of Burgh Reading Room, sent out a “massive” thank you to all who helped.
“At times I thought we would struggle but as always the support of the fellow villagers enabled the fête to go ahead,” he said.
“For many is was the first year helping and I was especially pleased to see our new residents getting involved in this community event.”
Funds raised will be equally split between St Mary’s Church and the Reading Room.
