Jeremy Hickling and Chrissie McVeigh, the two Burgh residents to have been elected to the parish council recently, have thanked all the residents who voted.
The pair join three new councillors from Tuttington and have already met as the new council.
“I am very pleased that Chrissie and I were elected. We plan to build a better relationship between the residents of the two villages and the parish council,” said Jeremy.
“We will hopefully pave the way for a more approachable council and be more open and informative.
“At our first meeting, we elected our new chairman, Ian Kinghorn. The meeting was very positive and it seemed a very good start. With so so many new motivated councillors on the committee we have all agreed that we should have more frequent meetings so we can swiftly settle into the new roles.
“A meeting is planned for the first Monday of every other month starting in September.
“The first task that Chrissie and I will work on is the refurbishment of the memorial on the corner of The Street and Wood Lane.
“Should any residents have any matters that they feel the parish council could help then please contact either Chrissie or myself so we could raise your concerns.”
